Page editor upgrades and product variants

Early July was about the page editor and the shop: snap-to-align, whole-page templates, size guides and exchanges. This is a written-up look back.

This is a written-up look back at 5-18 July 2026, written in October from the git history of our app repositories. Everything below is code on our staging branch. It is not a launch announcement; PersonaCart is pre-launch.

Period covered: 5-18 July 2026.

In short

  • The page editor became easier to place things in: snap guides, a gentler drag, and one-click whole-page templates.
  • The shop got product variants that behave like a real store: size guides, exchanges and photos tied to the option picked.
  • Pie, our assistant, can now build a page from a brief inside the chat.

What we tried to build

Two things. First, a page editor where a coach with no design background can place a heading, a button and a photo and have it look intentional. Second, a shop that handles the awkward parts of selling things in sizes. The editor work was mostly about reducing small frustrations. The shop work was about the situations that come after a sale, like a wrong size.

What we built in the editor

  • Snap-to-align. When you move an element, it clicks onto centre and edge guides.
  • Two kinds of drag. Dragging inside its parent nudges the spacing. Dragging across parents reorders. They are different gestures with different results.
  • Touch dragging for images. Long-press to pick an image up on a phone, with a visible cue when it is picked up.
  • Whole-page templates in one click. In normal mode you can start from a full-page template, including a sports-team one that was designed as a finished page rather than a stack of raw sections.
  • Text highlight. Highlight any word in any colour.
  • Button style copy and paste. Copy one button's style and paste it onto another, from the rail icons or the context menu.
  • A Publish button that names what it publishes. It says Publish Shop, Page or Theme depending on where you are.
  • Fewer dead options. The toolbar overflow menu hides actions that do not apply instead of greying them out, and new elements flash briefly so you can see where they landed.
  • Two theme controls that finally paint. Section spacing and the type scale were wired up so the controls change the page.

What we built in the shop

  • Size and measurement guides that you create once and reuse across products.
  • Photos per variant, and a way to assign photos by an attribute like colour so the gallery switches as the buyer picks.
  • Exchanges. An order can go through a size or variant exchange flow.
  • Reordering. You can drag option axes and values into the order you want, and the storefront follows it. Products can be reordered by hand in the listing.
  • Product details. A material, care and specification editor feeds a details block on the product page.
  • Labels. Each product can carry a label shown to buyers, and the shop can filter by it.
  • Shipping test mode. A sandbox switch when connecting a shipping carrier, so you can try it without live shipments.

Marketing and operations

  • Coupons and automations by customer tag. Coupons can target real tags, segments, and new or returning customers. Automations can filter by tag.
  • Menus per storefront. Header and footer menus attach from the listing page.
  • Bulk import. In the Import/Export area you can bring products in from a store URL.
  • Chat-driven jobs. Pie can manage payment links, set a campaign audience, and pause or resume a subscription. Pie can also build a page from a short brief and show you a section list with a preview.

What it means for a coach or academy

A coach selling a program usually does not need size guides, but a coach who also sells kit or apparel does. Exchanges and variant photos are the part most small shops get wrong. The editor changes are for everyone. Most of them just save a minute here and there.

I want to separate this from the Academy, which is the teams-and-schedule side and is separate from the online store.

What is next

The following fortnight is dominated by BioLink selling and booking, domains and billing. That is the next post.

Frequently asked questions

Can I start a page from a template?

Yes. The editor has whole-page templates you can start from in normal mode. The templates in this period include a team page designed as a complete page.

Does the shop support size exchanges?

The code for a size or variant exchange flow was built in this period. It sits on our staging branch and is not announced as launched.

Can Pie build a page for me?

Pie can build a page from a brief in chat and show you a section list with a preview. You can then open it in the editor and change anything.
